Am I eligible?

To be eligible you need to be a young person going to school in Italy aged between 16 and 19 at the time of application. Any young person may apply. Family members of British Embassy staff are not eligible to apply. Shortlisted winners under 18 years old will be required to submit parental consensus to participate in the competition, including permission to share photos and or videos of you on the British Embassy in Rome social media and website.

Do I need to speak English?

Knowledge of English language is welcome but not necessary.

How much does it cost?

It’s free. We will pay for transport and meals for you and your accompanying adult. If you live outside Rome, we will cover accommodation costs. If you live outside Rome, we will cover accommodation costs.

How will you choose the winners?

An internal, independent jury will consider the best applications and select the winners. They will be looking for applications that are well communicated, passionate and personal, but they won't expect them to be perfect or to have been filmed on an expensive camera.

If I win, can I bring my parents?

Of course. You are encouraged to bring an adult with you who can accompany you during your time in Rome. However, we will only fund the expenses for one accompanying adult.

What will I do during the programme?

You will shadow the British Ambassador for two days during official visits, calls and bilateral initiatives or events.

When will it take place?

Some of you might have the high school graduation exam, some of you might be on holiday, so we will offer you some options. The project will take place between June and December 2023 and the date will be agreed between winners and the Ambassador for a day team.
